Anon asked: favourite ‘industry’ designed film poster`?
It is a cliché but the original poster for the Hitchcock film Vertigo by Saul Bass is pretty much my favourite piece of film poster design ever. The colours, composition, the imagery and typography just all work when they really shouldn’t.
I am really glad that Olly Moss brought about the resurgance of minimalist movie art, as I think the film industry’s over-reliance on the use of Photoshop is destroying the art of the film poster. However, the minimalist art style is very polarising, I mean if you go to minimalmovieposters you just see lots of ‘vector’ posters, well that isn’t minimal, that is just a ‘vector’ poster. Minimal movie posters should be just that, have as minimal amount of information as possible, yet still reflect the film succinctly.
